NEW ESSEX CHOIR RECORDINGS
Three Choirs festival
This page is here to provide for you some recordings of the New Essex Choir. The first is an older recording from the choir's involvement in a Three Choirs Festival and is the famous Handel work, "Zadok The Priest", accompanied by a live orchestra.
Music for eastertide
The next few recordings are from the choir's last rehearsal, before the Coronavirus Lockdown, on Friday 13th March 2020. These recordings were made around six weeks before their Spring Concert, the first that would have been under the baton of new Musical Director Tom Rodgers, therefore they are not quite as polished as they would have been in late April. However, they are musical and engaging. Well done to all!
Here you will find recordings of some of our "Music For Eastertide" programme:
Elgar - Ave Verum;
Quilter - Non Nobis;
Gjeilo - Ubi Caritas;
Stainer - God So Loved The World;
Lindlay's arrangement of "Now The Green Blade Riseth"
Bach (attr.) - Lord, Beholding (first movement of "St Luke Passion")

A festive farrago
Our second Christmas concert, in 2022, under the baton of Tom Rodgers was a mixture of Christmas music, both sacred and secular, interspersed with suitable readings. It was received very well by an audience of around seventy-five. Here are two pieces from the concert: The Infant King (Trad.) and Walking In The Air (Blake arr. Rodgers). Musical mergings
In the summer of 2023, we joined forces with one of our Musical Director's other choirs to produce a joint concert of a huge variety of music. We performed twice the concert twice, first at Holy Trinity Church in Barkingside on 23rd June, and then in Hornchurch, Essex, on 8th July. The concert in Barkingside was accompanied by a trio of musicians; in Hornchurch we had a 12 piece chamber orchestra backing us up! Here are a couple of pieces from our two concerts. With christmas on the horizon
In December 2023 we performed in our new "home" - Holy Trinity, Barkingside - our Christmas concert to an appreciative audience of around 60. The programme was more traditional, ranging from Renaissance carols to those written in the early 21st Century. Here's a couple of audio recording from our performance. You can also watch the whole concert on the YouTube video below.
